20/11/2009 Letter of Intend with ASG International GmbH
Desmet Ballestra has signed a Letter of Intend with ASG International GmbH to cooperate in technical and commercial matters related to the supply of plants for the conversion of Biomass to alternative liquid fuel (BtL).
ASG is an innovative engineering company, based in Switzerland, which amongst other activities has developed and is procuring a new technology for the conversion of (waste) biomass into Diesel fuel in a single step.
Both Desmet Ballestra and ASG desire to cooperate and develop a business relationship wherein both companies individual know-how and strength will result in engineering and supply packages for “green energy” production plants.
The cooperation will supply present and future customers with enhanced income possibilities from their present or future investments.
Additionally the „packages“ will be designed to reduce/diminish waste creation and CO2 emission release to the environment.
The new cooperation with ASG is part of the Desmet Ballestra strategy headed to further develop our already leading position in the field of Biofuel manufacturing plants, increase our commitment to supply green energy without being in competition with the human food chain and to contribute to a cleaner environment.

2-3/12/2008 Conference “Biorefining for the Pulp and Paper Industry 2008”
The conference "Biorefining for the Pulp and Paper Industry" was arranged in Helsinki Finland beginning of December 2008. Mr. Fredrik Hoel, Area Sales Manager Desmet Ballestra, and Heidi Harrer, R&D Manager Desmet Ballestra Bioethanol were present at the conference.
The paper industry is looking for new opportunities for valorizing side-and waste streams. The paper industry is under heavy pressure due to reduced paper consumption following the financial crisis. The purpose of participating was to establish contacts with the Pulp & Paper Industry. Several interesting contacts were made and are at present followed up for future collaboration.
Desmet Ballestra Bioethanol has developed different methods for converting lignocellulosic material to ethanol, biogas and energy. Here different side/waste streams from pulp and paper industry, containing cellulose and/or hemicellulose and/or sugars can be utilized as raw materials
